Description
Our light switch and socket spacers are designed to solve two of the most common electrical fitting problems in UK homes:
- Fixing sunken or recessed sockets - When plastering, tiling, or redecorating makes your wall thicker, the faceplate can sit too far back. This spacer fits between the back box and faceplate, bringing it forward so it sits perfectly flush.
- Creating more space behind the faceplate - Modern slimline sockets and switches have less internal depth, making it harder to fit wiring neatly. Adding a spacer gives a few extra millimetres of clearance, making installation easier and safer.
Unlike spacers made from standard 3D-printing plastics, our spacers are manufactured from flame-retardant ABS, giving you added reassurance when installing them around electrical fittings. ABS is also tough, heat-resistant and durable, making it well suited to this application.
Each socket extender plate is precisely 3D-printed for a snug, minimalist fit and available in thicknesses from 2mm to 30mm. You can also choose from 0mm rounded corners (sharp, no rounding), up to 10mm radius to better match a faceplate with rounder corners.

FAQs
Can I use this for both sockets and light switches?
Yes - these spacers fit all UK standard light switches and plug sockets, and can be customised to unique sizes if needed.
How do I know which thickness I need?
Measure how far your socket is recessed behind the wall or tile. Choose the matching spacer thickness - 4mm is the most common.
Will this help with slimline faceplates?
Yes! Adding a 2mm–6mm spacer gives extra wiring clearance behind slimline fittings.
What does the corner radius mean?
The corner radius affects how rounded the corners are. 2mm radius matches most standard sockets, while 5mm radius is better for the curvier faceplates.
Do I need longer screws?
For thicker spacer plates, yes - choose screws longer than your spacer thickness to ensure a secure fit.
How to Fix or Adjust a Socket Using a Spacer
If your socket or light switch sits too far back after tiling, plastering, or repainting, simply use a socket spacer or back box extension plate to bring the fitting flush with the wall. It’s also ideal when upgrading to slimline sockets, giving you more space behind the faceplate to fit wires safely.
Our spacers are available in various thicknesses (2mm–30mm), so you can easily match the depth you need. Just fit the spacer between the wall box and faceplate - no need for messy filler or expensive electrical work.
⚠ Important Notes:
- Since they are highly customisable, these spacers are made to order! Please allow 1-2 days for design and production before shipping.
- Screws and sockets not included - this listing is for the plastic spacer plate(s) only.
- Small imperfections or visible layer lines may occur due to the manufacturing process.
- Always turn off power before installation.
- Made from flame-retardant ABS plastic; however, the spacer is not a substitute for correct electrical installation practices or compliant electrical accessories.

Special mention to Luke!
Absolutely incredible service, communication and quality.
Will recommend this site to anyone that does not have a 3d printer.
this is how things are supposed to be done!
Aww, thanks for the great review, Marinos, makes it all feel worthwhile!
Glad I could be of help, hope you enjoy your massive spacer!
Very pleased with the quality of the spacers I received. They've allowed me to finish tidying up the wall around two socket boxes after a rewire with probably the least amount of fuss. On the 3mm and 4mm thick double spacers, there was enough flex in the material for me to guide it over the socket facing rather than having to remove it to sandwich the spacer in the middle. Not sure if that's how they're intended to be fitted, but it worked! I really appreciate the different depth, sizes, and corner radius offered, and delivery was fast and nicely packaged.
Thanks so much for the great review, Emma! Yes, the double socket spacers can sometimes be fitted that way, by sliding them over the top and rotating a bit, but I don't mention it as a feature since it's not always possible. :P Glad to hear they worked out great for you!
I was very impressed by the speed of fulfilling my order and the 6mm spacer was exactly what I needed to ensure a tidy finish.
Many thanks to 2d6 for first rate service!
